What do you have?

Type it however you write it — 1,234.56 and 1.234,56 are both understood.

Why use this one

The arithmetic is done in whole units

Every figure is computed in cents, paise or fils as integers, never in floating point. That is why 5% of 8.35 comes out as 0.42 here and as 0.41 in a spreadsheet that rounds a binary approximation.

It refuses to confuse margin with markup

Both numbers are always on screen, and a side-by-side table shows what your percentage means under each reading. Pricing at a 50% markup when you meant a 50% margin leaves a third of your revenue on the table, every sale.

It knows how the invoice is split

India charges one rate and prints it as CGST plus SGST inside a state, or IGST across one. Canada stacks a federal tax with a provincial one. The breakdown is shown the way the invoice has to show it, and the halves always add back to the total.

Nothing is sent anywhere

There is no backend. Your costs, margins and prices are commercially sensitive, and they stay in this tab — which is more than can be said for pasting them into a search box.

Questions people ask

How do I remove GST or VAT from a total?
Divide by 1 plus the rate, do not multiply by the rate. On a total of 118 at 18%, the tax is 118 × 18 ÷ 118 = 18, leaving 100. Multiplying 118 by 18% gives 21.24, which is wrong by the tax on the tax. Choose "Remove tax" and the tool does it correctly.
What is the difference between margin and markup?
Markup is profit as a share of cost; margin is profit as a share of the selling price. Cost 100 with a 50% markup sells at 150; cost 100 at a 50% margin sells at 200. They agree only at zero, and the gap widens as the percentage rises — at a 70% target the difference is more than double.
Should I apply my margin before or after tax?
Before. Consumption tax is collected on behalf of the government and was never your revenue, so the margin belongs on the tax-exclusive price. Taking the margin on the tax-inclusive figure understates your real margin and underprices the item.
Are the tax rates kept up to date?
The built-in rates were checked in October 2026 and cover 40 regimes, but rates change by statute and this is a convenience, not tax advice. Every rate is editable — type the one your invoice needs, and check it against your own tax authority before filing.
Why does the US have no rate built in?
There is no national sales tax in the United States. Rates are set by state, county and city and they stack, which means thousands of combinations that change frequently. The tool offers a blank rate instead of inventing a national figure that would be wrong everywhere.
Is my data saved anywhere?
In this browser's localStorage, on this device only. It is never sent anywhere, and "Clear saved data" erases it immediately.
